The two men sat facing one another across the concrete chess table in the park. The younger man was wearing a thin sweater, but the slight chill in the autumn air was affecting the older man more. He wore a tweed sport coat, a scarf, and knit gloves with the fingertips cut off.
The younger man was smiling, waiting for the older man to make his move. The older man was motionless, observing the chess pieces on the table.
The younger man heard the voices of a group of children playing on the swings nearby. He closed his eyes and listened. The boys and girls were screaming with abandon, living in the moment as only children know how to do.
"Your turn," said the older man. The younger man opened his eyes and looked down at the chess board.

Great addition to #fridayflash. Welcome! You've painted a vivid and clear picture of these two and the setting. Beautifully done in so few words. It was a joy to read. Many thanks! ~ Olivia

Very intriguing. The descriptions are great and I really like the contrast between the two characters, which feels like
it is meaningful and is going somewhere. Really liked, 'boys and girls screaming with abandon, living in the moment as only children
know how to do.'
I look forward to the next installment to see where this is heading!
